Today a hair restoration will prove to be all but undetectable from the other parts of your scalp, even your hairdresser will be hard pressed to notice that there is a difference.

Who can be impacted by hair loss?

Hair loss is a lot more common that many people may think that it is. While it is more often seen in men, hair loss can impact both men and women.

Male pattern hair loss is seen to have an impact on as many as 85% of men, by the time that they turn 50. Men typically have receding hairlines and bald spots.

There are several reasons that could be to blame for male pattern hair loss. It’s important to consult with an expert such as top Brisbane hair transplant specialists so that you can be sure to understand what is to blame for your own hair loss. There is of course the heredity factor that can result in hair loss, but other factors include illness, medications and even high levels of stress.

Female pattern hair loss

While hair loss is seen in both men and women, it does tend to present a little bit differently for women. Female hair loss is often characterized by seeing the thinning of the hair on the top and the sides of the head. Also referred to as androgenetic alopecia, hair loss can impact up to a third of women.

Some do see hair loss as early as the onset of puberty, but it is most often see once a woman has gone through menopause. This is because a fluctuation in hormones can often be to blame for hair loss.

Treating hair loss in men and women

While topical treatments have been seen to have some effect at treatment hair loss in both men and woman, one of the most effective hair replacement solutions is seen with surgical hair restoration. Today’s technological advances allow plastic surgeons to transfer hair from a healthy donor site on the patient’s head to another part where growth is hoped for.

The results look much more natural than solutions used in days gone by. Patients can expect to see the best results within 18 months. Hair restoration is not a slow process, but it is a permanent process that boasts great success rates.

Are there any risks to hair transplants?

No medical procedure, whether cosmetic or not, is without the potential for some sort of risk. Hair transplants however are considered to be incredibly safe for the patient looking to encourage new growth across his or her head.

There may be some irritation experienced after the surgical procedure has been completed. The transplanted hair will typically fall out soon after the procedure has been done, but it will regrow within a few short weeks.

There is a low risk of infection possible after a transplant. Patients can avoid the risk of infection by following all of the homecare instructions provided by the surgeon after the procedure has concluded.
