5 Tips to Find Great Motorhome Deals

  • Written by News Feature Team

If you’re currently trawling through
caravan sales sites looking for a great motorhome deal, you’ll have probably realised that it can be pretty difficult to find bargains or fabulous savings on the latest models. However, with some reasonable research and a little patience, it certainly can be possible to find that amazing motorhome of your dreams – and at an affordable price too. Here’s five important things you should remember when searching for a great motorhome deal:

Do your market research

It goes without saying that before any major purchase, a little market research can set you up in a big way. It’s crucial that before you even think about committing funds to the purchase of motorhome, you really know the value of the market (both new and used vehicles) and that you fully understand what vehicle will be right for you and your family. Moreover, with some advanced planning, you’ll be arming yourself with a portfolio of essential information, meaning that when you arrive at the sales yard you will be far less likely to fall for any well-rehearsed sales talk or too-good-to-be-true deals.

Identify what model you want in advance

If you want to find a great deal, you already need to have a relatively good idea which vehicle you’re looking for. A sound, yet simple strategy, is to create a shortlist of three or four motorhomes you’re definitely in the market for. If potential buyers enter the market open to practically anything, you’ll often find it far more difficult to find that great deal as you become swayed by lower prices or exclusive offers on vehicles you may not have originally considered or even wanted. Remember, something cheaper is not necessarily a great deal.

Identify the right price in advance

There’s absolutely no way that you can be sure that you’ve acquired a bargain unless you fully understand what a motorhome model is worth. Don’t assume that sales tags such as ‘10% off’ will mean that you’re really saving 10%, as many vehicles, particularly second-hand vehicles, will have been overpriced in the first place. The best way to get a good understanding of the market is to simply canvass as many different vehicle sales websites as you can. The more you observe, the more confident you’ll feel regarding the true valuation of something.

Cast your search net a little wider

Naturally, many prospective buyers will not want to travel too far to make their motorhome purchase. However, by adding a few extra kilometres to your search radius you may actually find that your options grow considerably. If you live in a major city, the competition for bargains will often be much higher, and your rivals may also be looking at vehicles inside a relatively narrow search radius. So, remember to consider rural locations as a potentially fertile hunting ground for bargains.

Be patient

Finding great deals takes time and can often be a waiting game. However, if you’ve already done your background research and have identified a shortlist of motorhomes you’re likely to consider a set price range, eventually opportunities will arise if you’re expectations are realistic enough. Remember, a little patience can reap great rewards if you allow enough time.
