Knowing about the different types of incontinence products

To minimise the impact of any risk, it needs to be managed effectively. Urinary incontinence is a health risk that results in an involuntary release of urine from the bladder which affects an individual physically and mentally. Managing incontinence is essential, regardless of its severity. Many people like to remain secretive about this issue. As a result, they are reluctant to buy incontinence products from supermarkets and make use of sanitary pads which, unfortunately, does not serve the purpose of preventing urine leakage.

This happens due to self-consciousness and a lack of awareness regarding incontinence. Fortunately for such people, it’s possible to buy adult nappies or buy incontinence products online in Australia. Some of these online stores offer various products that are specially designed to control incontinence.

Managing Incontinence with different products

·         Pads: This product is exclusively used to control incontinence. It can manage light or mild incontinence and is worn inside the underwear or reusable briefs. It protects skin from excess moisture and provides good absorbency for leaks.

·         Liners: Liners are used by those who have mild or light incontinence. They are held in place by a brief or underwear just like pads and guards. They are available based on different levels of absorbency.

·         Protective Underwear: These are one-piece undergarments that can be easily pulled up and taken off. It is also known as pull-ups. They come based on various levels of absorbency and provide protection from mild to severe incontinence. Pull-ups have a discreet style and therefore incontinence can be managed in a dignified manner.

Benefits of pull-ups

o   Ease in wearing and removing

o   Comfortable and snug fit

o   Material is comfortable, breathable and soft

o   Elasticated waist and legs provides extra security

o   Built-in pad provides more confidence

o   It’s quiet and discreet with no noise of any kind

o   Wide range of absorbances and sizes

·         Adult Diapers: Also known as fitted briefs, adult diapers can be ideal for people who suffer from mild or severe incontinence. There are various levels of absorbency with adjustable elastic or adhesives. They come with breathable cloth or a plastic sheet on the outer surface. It prevents perspiration by keeping the skin healthy and dry. For anyone suffering from incontinence, it’s important to consider the two main factors like mobility and the level of incontinence faced. Adult diapers have been around for years and have many features including absorbent cores, size tabs and stretchy waistbands. They are not usually gender specific and are available in a variety of sizes. Some of them have leg cuffs and are ideal for urine incontinence.

It’s always important to note that before purchasing incontinence products, consult your doctor as they can help you identify the products that can be ideal for you or your loved ones, based on the condition. There is a collection of products for incontinence available in the market these days. Some of these include adult nappies, pull-ups, pads, liners and so on. Buying incontinence products online is a good option, as it not only helps you avoid the carrying of bulky incontinence pads but you also get to avoid the embarrassment of buying these products.
