5 Denture Options And How To Choose The Best

Are you worried about smiling because of a missing tooth? Does it decrease your self-esteem and confidence? According to Dentists at Endeavour Hills, a good smile can boost a person’s confidence. That’s why it is essential to keep your teeth complete as much as possible. However, there will come a time where some of your teeth need to be removed. But don’t worry. Dentures are here to help.

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are also known as false teeth and act as a replacement for missing teeth. However, dentures are removable, unlike your natural teeth. Common causes of losing teeth are tooth decay, gum disease, or accidents.

Furthermore, dentures play a role in maintaining your facial structure. If you lose some of your teeth, your facial muscles may sag over time. Additionally, dentures may help you eat, speak, and chew accordingly.

However, not all dentures are the same. Some are made to supply a single tooth, and others to provide a complete replacement. So, here are some types of dentures you might need to consider:

What Are The Different Types Of Dentures?

When you visit your dentist, you’ll surely hear about the different types of dentures and how they differ from each other. From there, you’ll have a glimpse of your options and what could be best for you:

1. Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are also known as full teeth dentures, and their role is to replace the entire set of teeth. According to experts, complete dentures are the last option if other tooth restoration procedures are no longer effective.

However, complete dentures may cause speech problems to others. It is because of the thick covering used, which is necessary for complete dentures. Also, while others can adapt to this, some people can’t. If this situation happens, call your doctor immediately or visit www.dentexdental.com.au.

If these benefits please you, talk to your dentist and ask if you’re suitable for complete dentures. Because if not, other dental procedures, such as implants, might be for you.

2. Fixed Partial Dentures

Fixed partial dentures are also known as implant-supporting bridges. These dentures use implants to secure the missing and existing teeth surrounding them as additional support. Unlike complete dentures, fixed partial dentures are permanent, meaning they can't be easily removed.

3. Removable Partial Dentures

As the name suggests, it is removable compared to fixed partial dentures and does not use implants and existing teeth for support. It is also great at providing a good smile and boosting confidence. Usually, artificial teeth are placed on an artificial gum-colored base. Furthermore, it is usually advised to some patients who are not suitable for fixed partial dentures.

4. Overdentures

This type of denture is similar to complete dentures. However, these use implants to support the dentures. Hence, it is also known as implant-retained dentures. Furthermore, this can be applied to the patient’s upper or lower jaw, depending on their needs.

Even if these dentures use implants for support, it is still removable. So, make sure to clean it every night and remove it when you sleep.

5. Immediate Dentures

This type of denture is pre-designed and can be directly applied on the same day your teeth get extracted. The primary use of this denture is to replace missing teeth while letting your jaws heal at the same time. Also, this acts as a temporary replacement while your true dentures are being created.

* How To Choose What’s Best For You?

Even after reading this, only your doctor will know which of the following types of dentures is best for you. Your doctor will require you to undergo some basic tests, such as an X-ray, to determine what could be best for your condition. Also, it's the right time to ask your doctor all of your concerns, such as how to clean them properly or if there are other procedures suitable for you. Furthermore, you may want to use these tips to help you decide better, such as:

* Ask Your Doctor Which Type Best Suits You

Your doctor has the most significant opinion in this matter since they will be the ones evaluating your condition. Also, they will help you decide on which type best suits your lifestyle.

* Determine Which Dentures Fall Right On Your Budget

Dentures such as implant-based may be expensive since they provide an almost-natural feel and are aesthetically pleasing. However, if you need to receive implant-based dentures, you can ask your doctor if they allow an installment option since it would not be easy to release a considerable amount of money.

* Determine How Many Teeth You’re Going To Replace

Depending on how many teeth need to replace, your doctor may ask you to have complete or partial dentures.

* Ask Your Doctor If You Have Enough Jaw Bone For Implant-Based Dentures

If you lack the necessary bone height, your doctor may suggest bone augmentation to support the implants properly. However, you’ll need to undergo this additional operation if you qualify for implant-based dentures.

* Choose Between Standard Or Premium

Standard dentures are less expensive compared to premium. However, most people prefer them as they can wear these without any problems.

Final Words

Dentures are essential to restore your missing teeth and, most importantly, to boost your confidence and self-esteem by giving you a good smile. Also, they are perfect for people who are not good candidates for other dental treatments, such as dental implants and crowns.

Furthermore, it would be best to ask your doctor about them to determine which denture is the right fit for you and follow the tips presented above. Also, keep your teeth healthy as much as possible.
