5 Healthy Snacks To Bring To The Office

These days, all of us are trying to be as healthy as we can, but it can be hard to keep up your healthy habits when you get to work each day. It is easy to be healthy when you are at home because you can make your own meals and control what is being put into them, but when you’re out and about and you don’t have a lot of options it can be hard to stay strong and eat well. But if you can find a few healthy snacks to take to the office each day, you’ll be able to eat well, even if you have the 3 o’clock munchies.

  1. Nuts

If you want something to snack on that has several health benefits and is easy to come by, you should start snacking on nuts. Nuts are great to give you a little energy boost throughout the day and they are a great source of protein, too. Each type of nut has several different health benefits, so you need to choose wisely when looking for a nut to snack on. For example, if you are low in magnesium, you should try snacking on almonds brazil nuts each day, or eat some walnuts to reduce inflammation throughout the body. The only thing you need to remember about nuts is that you should only be having a small amount a day because a lot of nuts are high in fat. A good rule of thumb is to have a portion of about the size of your palm each day, so that you get the nutrients you need, without tipping the scales.

  1. Yogurt

If you’re looking for a healthy snack that will help you to get the right amount of calcium each day, you should try yogurt. One of the best things about yogurt is that is it is full of probiotics, which are a form of good bacteria. This helps to promote healthy gut flora and helps to regulate your digestive system, which is great for people who experience gas, diarrhea or bloating on a regular basis. However, if you want to get the most out of your yogurt, you need to opt for natural yogurts like Greek yogurt that does not contain additives or sugars. If you are eating yogurt that has a lot of flavouring added to it, it will probably not be as good for you as the natural and unprocessed varieties.

  1. Sliced Veggies

If you want to try a really healthy snack at work that is easy to prepare the night before, you should cut up some veggie sticks for yourself and snack on them throughout the day. Simply wash your chosen vegetables and then chop them into long thin sticks, before adding them to a reusable bag or container so that they don’t get crushed in transit to work. You can choose whatever vegetables you like for this snack, but most people opt for celery or carrot sticks because they remain in shape long after they have been cut. If you’re not a big fan of veggies on their own and you need to add something to them for a bit of flavour you should try hummus or mashed avocado dip to dunk your veggies into. Both of these dips are fairly healthy options on their own, but remember to have a small portion, as anything can be unhealthy for you when eaten in excess.

  1. Protein balls

If you want a snack that will give you a hit of protein, that also tastes good for you, protein balls are the snack for you. Protein balls are very easy to make and you can make protein balls from home to take to work with you the next day. You don’t even have to cook them! You can just mix the ingredients together and set them for a few hours in the fridge. Flavoured protein powders like varieties available from Luxe Fitness are great to use when making protein balls. You can choose from flavours like chocolate, cookies and cream or banana that compliment the ingredients in your balls so that you can make the perfect snack to suit your tastes. These are great to eat after a workout or a long day at the office because they are full of nutrients and energy, so you can keep going throughout the day.

  1. Dark chocolate

If you’re a bit of a chocoholic and you need a burst of energy in the afternoon, you should try snacking on some dark chocolate when your afternoon sugar craving hits. Dark chocolate is a lot better for you than milk or white varieties, because it contains less sugar than the other types because it predominantly made of cacao beans and no milk solids. Dark chocolate also contains antioxidants which help to keep your heart healthy and improve cholesterol, so it is very good for you in small doses. Even though most people prefer milk chocolate because it tastes better and is not as bitter as dark chocolate, it is definitely better for you to eat dark chocolate, if you are prone to snacking on chocolate each afternoon.

There are many healthy snack options in the supermarkets these days, so it is easy to find the perfect snack to take to the office with you each day. The key is to vary between different snacks so that you get the health benefits that you need through each meal of the week. You may also get sick of one thing if you’re having it as a snack every afternoon, so you should try a combination of a few healthy snacks throughout the week to ensure that you don’t overdo it with the snacks that you love.
