Pros & Cons of Calling a Doctor at Home

People are adopting home doctor bulk-billed services to make life easier for them. This world is a very busy place, and people don’t have options to stop by and wait for that doctor’s appointment or hours. In the earlier years, every patient was given personal attention because their doctors came home to attend them. During the war times, town doctors were a thing, but you know how science is developing new-age technology for a faster better treatment? Which is a good thing; however, this had led to a decrease in personal patient service.

Pros:

As this is a long debate on Technology VS personal care, let’s focus on the pros and cons that might help you decide whether calling a doctor at home is favourable or not.

  • Convenience:

Imagine not feeling well and being alone home, and you would surely not like to drive that car and drag yourself to the hospital. Instead what would be convenient will be calling a home car service helpline near you or a house doctor who would attend you at home. Due to technological advancements, your medical professional can also perform mobile x-rays. Prescription refills and answers all your medical concerns via mobile. Home doctor service also allows your doctor to visit hotels or your office if you have any health emergency.

There are times and situations when visiting a doctor might not be an option such as having someone elderly at home who can’t be dragged out of bed or have the stamina to wait in the long cue of patients in the waiting room. You might be a single parent, and your child is alone at home as most of the moms work nowadays, you can call the doctor at home who will be able to attend your child till you reach him/her.

  • Cost Friendly:

We all love the word “Cost Friendly”, don’t we? A house doctor service costs you much less than an actual visit to your doctor’s clinic than you rushing into the emergency at the exact moment will cost you several panic attacks and of course a million dollar bill too. On the other hand, if you will have a self-care health service available at home 24/7, it will not only cost you much lesser but also make sure that you are provided with the best health care. Studies have also shown that people recover faster when they are in their environment, around their people than that of the hospital.

  • Hassle-Free Treatment:

Waiting in an unwell situation is the worst part of falling sick, especially when you are both short of time and in need of quick treatment, especially if you even reach before the time the doctor won’t attend you before your set appointment time. Imagine going along a child, waiting in a room full of other patients with different infections and breathing the same air. Our technology sector has made thing easier online, and you can fill your medical history and get your self-service at home scheduled with a doctor.

Reduce in Emergencies:

There are times when during an odd hour or day your on-demand doctor might be unavailable at the clinic, and you can then call your personal health care before anything big happens. And this will not only tackle the situation for a while but keep you alert with regular check-ups saving on a major health issue.

Cons:

A home-doctor can be an ideal deal for both you and your doctor. However, there are some barriers and disadvantages that come along with, as well. Below are a few limitations that might come your way while deciding.

Limited Access:

Though having a health care service based at your own home might be very comforting, but some patients might not have proper access to it as some cases are such that they have to be shifted on computer literate machines. You can have whole access to your doctor at home, but you can’t shift the entire hospital there. Some equipment is set up in the professional environment with experts around them who have complete access to it. For example, a technological error happens, and you have no clue of the medical machine, will you be able to tackle the situation? You can’t. Hence, a home-based medical service can only give you limited access and a timely cure to your health issues.

Regulatory Barriers:

Regulatory barriers differ from city to city. The biggest barrier in a home doctor service is the lack of health insurance coverage. Not being insured makes it difficult for the patients to get proper treatment is done, which adds to paying massive sums of cash. Lack of service in some areas is the biggest barrier. There might be some under-developed areas where your doctor might not be able to travel due to the lack of service/transportation.

Invasion of Privacy:

Doctors are strangers unless and until you have a personal relationship with them which is very rare. Having a doctor 24/7 present at your home can sometimes invade your entire privacy. Having someone at your home for longer hours which is noticing everything that you are doing in the day and what your family discussions are about is a little bit creepy.

Conclusion:

The medical world is constantly improving day by day and thanks to our health-care and science sector for all such advancements. The healthcare sector is working on making medical care services as reachable as possible and convenient.
