Increase Security at Home with Roller Shutters

  • Written by Joseph Webb.

Once your dream house is complete, it is important to protect all aspects of it. People do not realize the impact of housebreaking until it happens in their vicinity. The standard windows are the most susceptible parts of the house that aid in Housebreaking. In order to make the highly susceptible windows burglary deterrent, you will have to install window roller shutters.

What Is Window Roller Shutter?

The window roller shutters are nothing but a stable covering for the window. It generally features a frame, vertical stiles or horizontal rails. As the name roller shutter denotes the burglar deterrent cover for the windows can be rolled or louvered manually or with a remote control.

What Are the Other Purposes It Serves?

The window roller shutters have many other purposes other than beefing up the security of your home.

  • The roller shutter can offer better fire protection than the standard windows and prevents the fire embers from getting into the building through the glass or broken window

  • It reduces the noise from outside

  • It offers the privacy you desire by blocking the view of the passers-by.

  • The window roller shutters will help to keep the summer heat out and keep you warm in winter. They also help save on your energy bills.

  • The roller shutter also protects the doors and windows from harsh weather conditions increasing its longevity.

  • It can be used as an effective tool to control the amount of light that enters the building.

Different Styles of Shutters

Shutters can be of full length or it could be just an inch or two longer than the window. In either case, it is important to choose a shutter style that teams up with the type of window you have at your home. It includes:

  • Bay window: The Bay window shutters are aesthetically designed to blend with the bay window design. They perfectly fit the window design but you generally have very limited choices as far as shutters for bay windows are concerned.

  • Shutters with tracking system: These are sliding shutters that can be used to secure areas that feature large windows or even large open spaces. This also includes glass walls in the commercial buildings as well as the glass screen you might see in offices. Also, you can choose from a wide variety of shutters available.

  • Café shutters: This refers to shutters that cover just one half of the door or window.

  • Tier on tier: These shutters cover the whole window. But, when it is opened, the top half and the bottom half open separately.

Operating the Window Roller Shutter

There are 5 ways in which the window roller shutters can be operated. They are

  • Manual method: This is a pretty old-fashioned style. It consists of a winder box, a tape, the axle that is fitted to the pelmet box and handle. When the handle is turned the shutter can be pulled down or rolled up. However, it is suitable only for small windows.

  • Electrical operation: The system is similar to that of manual operation roller shutters but the way of using a handle is different as they are operated with the motor. This is fairly versatile than the manual shutters.

  • Remote control: It is the upgraded version of the electrical window roller shutters style. That is instead of operating the shutter standing next to the window, you would be able to do it from any part of the house.

  • Spring- load shutters: This is in some ways similar to the manual system. The bottom bar of the window roller shutters will have a handle, lock and key for operations.

  • 12vsmart drive motor: This type of window roller shutter which is supposed to be an innovative style which operates using the power that is stored in the 12V battery handset. The handset will be installed close to the shutter. It is operated like a light switch to wind and unwind the shutters.

So, now install window roller shutters and enhance the security in your house.
