  • Written by Candice Meisels

Sydney Mum creates a national million -dollar business from the humble Aussie kitchen tea towel.

The humble Aussie tea towel that’s raising millions for schools. Australian Mum sells over 2 million tea towels!

Sydney, Australia, 5th February 2018, Mum of three and active committee member, Emma McNeilly, cooked up the idea of printing children’s artwork onto the humble tea towel all in the name of raising funds for a specific cause, school, daycare or community group. Incorporating children’s artwork into fundraising products is a winning formula – lasting memories are made, special gifts are created and money is generated for worthy causes.

Emma’s business Expressions helps schools and community groups raise funds for their local, bespoke causes whether it may be raising money for a school air-con system, a new school hall or a commemorative event.

She has sold over 2 million tea towels and has helped 18 000 organisations with their tea towel fundraisers.

Schools can earn up to 50% profit from a tea towel fundraiser. Emma understands how busy committee members are which is why she also developed a free Coordinators kit, the promise it: It’s easy to run, everything is included and everybody loves them.

Emma McNeilly, Founder & Director of Expressions, says:

“We can create a design using hand drawn self-portraits, handprints, a sketch, school crest, logo and text, photographs, class lists or signatures. Our success is due to the high quality products that can be found in thousands of homes across the country. These are products that everyone uses and values. “

“A win for everyone, at every stage of the process.  Projects are easy to run, organisations raise valuable money, parents adore the products, children love seeing their own artwork in print and our customers return year after year – completing what I like to call our circle of happiness.”

Expressions designs are printed on 100% cotton. The range includes everyday items including the tea towel, sturdy cotton tote bags and adult aprons.

Mum, Sheree, concludes: “I have six years of tea towels put aside for my children when they get older. I love seeing how their drawings change over the years and having this as a keepsake for them. Raising funds for the school is an added bonus.”
