Key tips to healthy skin

A good foundation to healthy skin is not only vital for maintaining physical appearance but also for our overall well-being. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and plays a crucial role in protecting our body from external factors such as pollution, UV rays, and bacteria. Here are some healthy low maintenance tips for healthy skin.

•Protect your skin from the sun

Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the most important steps in maintaining healthy skin. Exposure to UV rays can cause premature aging, sunburn, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, wear protective clothing, and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours. Maintain moisture in your skin to prevent sun damage such as heat barrier moisturisers.

•Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Water assists in the overall hydration of the skin and helps to flush out any toxins from the body. When we flush out toxins which has been sitting within our body for a while; Our body will re-energise and reset. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day.

•Eat a healthy diet

Eating a healthy diet is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats in your diet. Avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive salt and caffeine intake as this will cause premature ageing, dehydration, fine lines and unhealthy teeth. 

•Get enough sleep

Getting enough sleep is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. Lack of sleep can cause dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. Aim to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Maintain a healthy regime by allocating a bedtime ritual to ease yourself into sleep periods. For example; reading a book or drinking tea (decaf).

•Practice good hygiene

Practicing good hygiene is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Wash your face twice a day, cleansing skin with anti bacterial and anti fungal products such as raw coconut oil (unrefined human grade) avoid touching your face with dirty hands, and avoid sharing personal items such as towels and razors.

•Exercise regularly

Regular exercise is a great piece of your daily ritual to rid out any toxins from your body, maintaining healthy blood flow which aids in maintaining healthy skin. Exercise helps to improve blood circulation from teas to toe, reduces stress, and improve skin elasticity. Aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes per day.

•Manage stress

Stress can have a negative impact on our skin. It can cause acne, wrinkles, and dryness overall. When we create unnecessary tension within our thought process, we slow down healthy growth production and adds to overall tension in the body. Practice stress management techniques such as yoga, mindfulness wellness, meditation, and deep breathing techniques to reduce stress and maintain healthy skin.

  • Avoid smoking and alcohol

Smoking and alcohol can have a negative impact on our skin. Smoking can cause premature aging, wrinkles, and dull skin. Alcohol can dehydrate the skin and cause inflammation. Avoid smoking and limit alcohol intake to maintain healthy skin. Try to drink plenty of water and substitute alcohol for mocktails to trigger the craving and maintaining Hydration. 

  • Moisturize regularly

Moisturizing is essential for maintaining healthy skin. It helps to hydrate the skin, prevent dryness, and improve skin elasticity. Use a moisturiser that is suitable for your skin type and apply it twice a day. Natural coconut oil is a great way to add additional oil into the body and rid away and toxins or bacteria. 

  • Visit a dermatologist

Regular visits to a dermatologist can help to maintain healthy skin. A dermatologist can provide professional advice on skincare products, diagnose skin conditions, and provide treatment options.

In conclusion, maintaining healthy skin requires a combination of healthy habits and skincare practices. Protecting your skin from the sun, staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, practicing good hygiene, exercising regularly, managing stress, avoiding smoking and alcohol, moisturise regularly, and visiting a dermatologist are ten tips for healthy skin. Remember, healthy skin is not only about appearance, but also about overall well-being and improving self-nurture. Incorporating these tips into your daily routine can help you achieve healthy, glowing skin overall wellness.
