Embarrassed of your teeth? Here's what you can do

Facial aesthetics are the first and most important aspect to take care of when we talk about beauty. The face is the first thing that people notice about you, the instant they put their first gaze on you. Any flaw can put one below the confidence level and leave in the lack of self-morale. An immaculate smile is as important as the perfect facial features. An ugly jaw can cause you embarrassment or low self-confidence.

No matter what age you are, unhygienic, crooked, or lost teeth can put you in an awkward position where you might feel embarrassed to smile wide. If your bad breath is noticed by people around you it could be the worst thing to happen to you in a social gathering. A bad breath is also caused by poor oral hygiene and the build-up of bacteria in your mouth resulting in bad sulphur smell or swollen gums. On the other hand, crooked and nonaligned teeth could make matters worse, caused by improper cleaning and resulting in frequent tooth and gum problems. You can get proper treatment for this from the cosmetic dentist north Sydney

Embarrassment is a situation where you can be in extreme dental anxiety or phobia. According to a study of NIH, 30% had fear of pain, 47% sighted powerlessness in dental social situations related to embarrassment and 23% had psychosocial dysfunction. However, you need not worry even if you have uneven teeth, recent denture loss or a lack of confidence to face the world with your imperfect smile. There are several ways that you can adopt so that you don’t feel embarrassed of your naturally beautiful smile and work on ways to enhance it further:

  1. Feel confident

The first and most important information to retain in your brain is that nobody is perfect. It is important to feel more confident about yourself this will surely lead to a more positive attitude. Think and focus on the positive side of your personality and character. Instead of focusing on your or others’ physical imperfections, try to think that each one of us is different pertaining to our own exclusive qualities and personality. There are many celebrities and models who serve as an example of embracing one’s flaws and other lacking. Your teeth are a part of who you are as a person. Embrace them with pride, a wide smile, and complete confidence about yourself. Remember, every aesthetic problem has brilliant solutions with advanced medicines and developing treatments.

  1. Take orthodontic solutions

The dentistry field has taken a great leap in the past few years. There are many orthodontic solutions available for the uneven or crooked teeth. The easiest solution available is the veneers that you can fit over your teeth, covering the flaws making them look attractive. They can be used to cover the chipped, misaligned, stained, spaced or worn-down teeth for a quick fix. Veneers can last up to 7-8 years however; this is not the solution to correct such problematic teeth. For the proper correction of your misaligned or crooked teeth, you might need to go for orthodontics. There are several advanced braces options available today. Braces may give you a metallic smile, as they would be on your dentures for a quite few years.

There are also clear aligners that might not be visible since they are a transparent cosmetic brace. You should definitely consult cosmetic dentist north Sydney in this regard. They offer the best solutions for those who are embarrassed to smile with their braces on or fear the bullying in their schools or colleges. This provides a highly effective and targeted treatment to straighten the teeth and uses clear and removable aligners. Orthodontic solutions are many widespread in every nook and corner of the world. The teeth implantation has also taken a great leap using osstem implants, through which you can cover your tooth loss.

  1. Adopt oral hygiene

The most important habit to build and continue for the rest of your life is to take great care of your teeth. Your dentures may not be perfect or in good condition, it is important to maintain proper oral hygiene in your life. Many senior dentistry consultants emphasize maintaining proper oral hygiene, to avoid having a bad breath. Poor oral hygiene leads to bacteria build up around your gums, teeth, and tongue. Later, these bacteria can cause issues like gum diseases, cavities, or tooth decay. Good oral hygiene can save you from many other oral diseases like mouth ulcers, mouth disease, dry mouth, (in which the flow of saliva gets affected) and many others. Be affirmative to your children as well in taking good care of their teeth as a habit. Where flossing is less prioritized these days, it is definitely an important part of your oral hygiene.

  1. Quit smoking

Nicotine causes great damage to your teeth and all the smokers seem to know this ugly fact and are unable to get rid of this addiction easily. These people try to cover it up by chewing mints and gums and maintaining proper mouthwash practices. The deposits of nicotine and stench are penetrated deep into the gum tissues and the mouth tissues; eventually damaging your whole oral cavity. Do make your resolution today, and save yourself from a lot of deadly and harmful diseases by just quitting to smoke.

No matter how chronic or less serious of a problem lies within your teeth or gums; do not stop taking care of your teeth and schedule regular dentist appointments for bi-monthly or bi-yearly check-ups. Good oral hygiene can save you from bad breath, to say the least. Do not use the same toothbrush for more than two months, this can be easy access for the bacteria to reside in your mouth. Save yourself by maintaining proper oral care and never fear from any cosmetic orthodontic treatment and carry any type of braces or retainers with confidence.
