Mental Health and Covid-19: How Effective are Health- Supplements?

The search and development for a COVID-19 vaccine appear to be more farfetched. One of the most recent discoveries about the said study revealed that the virus has a new strain. The newly discovered strain presents a problem regarding the vaccines. If the virus continues to mutate as it spreads, then developing an effective vaccine will take even longer.

According to health experts, people with existing health conditions, particularly those involving their immune, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems have a higher risk of contracting the deadly coronavirus. But a weakened resistance brought by the lack of access to an immune system booster is not the only concern that experts have regarding the coronavirus. Long periods of quarantine have been shown to negatively affect the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals living in areas under a community lockdown or quarantine.

Aside from addressing the limited access of most individuals to the nourishment and vitamins that their body needs, health supplements can also be instrumental in combating the onset of mental illnesses.

The Benefits of Taking Supplements

Taking general health supplements every day fills the nutritional gaps in your body. While vitamins and supplements cannot replace prescriptions for certain health conditions, it can still act as an incremental source of sustenance. However, it may not yet be quite as strong a contender against COVID-19, considering how there is still much that needs to be known about the virus’ characteristics and true nature.

Despite that, people can still benefit from drinking supplements, especially amid a community quarantine caused by the pandemic.

  • Health supplements made of 100% natural ingredients accommodate both customers with strong immunity along with those who have underlying health conditions. Chemicals in the brain likewise react to specific components found in synthetically made vitamins. Natural vitamin and nutrient sources are less likely to cause allergic reactions and are also safer to ingest.

  • Health supplements are also designed to address mental health issues. Not all ailments are visible. There has been a dramatic spike in mental health problems since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The sheer contagiousness of the virus is enough to trigger high levels of anxiety and prevent people from calming down and making rational decisions. There are health supplements infused with calming ingredients such as Rhodiola Rosea. It is a type of plant more commonly recognized as an “adaptogen.” Adaptogens are essential in helping people cope with stresses caused by specific physical conditions, chemical exposures, and environmental factors that induce anxiety and depression. Some people are currently suffering from increased anxiety as a result of the ongoing pandemic. The calming effects of Rhodiola Rosea effectively provide relief. When your mind is free from stressful and negative thoughts, you can make sound decisions and listen to your body’s needs more carefully.

  • Health supplements, particularly when stored in bulk, act as an immune system booster. An adequate supply of vitamins and minerals means that there is enough to keep the family well-nourished. With stronger immunity and healthier bodies, people can curb the onset of emotional and psychological discrepancies within them.

COVID-19 has proven to have the capability to infect its victims physically, emotionally, and mentally. As such, it is of vital need to ensure that the body is not lacking any crucial nutrients to boost protection against the unseen and ferocious enemy.
